Éva Szolár : The Critique of the Bologna Process in the Higher Education Research Literature

When looking for answers to the question what the Bologna process is, it is easier to find responses such as „the implementation of a multi-cycle system” or „the harmonisation of European higher education systems”. The literature discussing the Bologna process is exceptionally rich in interpretations and concepts. In these narratives there unfolds a political process that is centrally governed, multifaceted, involves different of actors, runs along several parallel, interconnected dimensions, and is based on vague, rapidly changing goals and causal relations. What emerges from all this seems to be an exciting implementation game, which has brought about various configurations and small European Higher Education Areas.
