Zoltán Vastagh: Educational Implications of the Analysis of Social Relationships of the Students The author looks back on the main conclusions of a sociometric survey done by Ferenc Mérei. He compares the indicators of that study (e.g. the characteristics of social organization, the value system of micro groups, social roles and pregnancy) with the results of his own study. The conclusions we can arrive at are relevant for the educational improvement efforts of the changing Hungarian society. The most important problem areas dealt with are: the differences between boys or girls only and coeducated classes, the norm and value conflict of the educational system and of the micro groups, tendencies to exclude from relationships, and how the grade centered and increasingly impersonal relationships in schools are reflected in children. The study pays special attention to renewal of the teacher's erudition and makes some suggestions on what to do in this respect. MAGYAR PEDAGÓGIA 91. Number 3-4. 157-170.
